Blog Tour USA hits Seattle on July 25th July 17, 2007
According to the itinerary, Joe and Rudy of Sellsius will be rolling into Seattle in their “magic bus” on July 25th.
I long ago offered to host a party at my house in Kirkland that night. All are invited, just send me an email so I have an idea of how much food to make. Bring what you drink…standard rule at my parties. I’m thinking of charging $5.00 a head, as I know the guys need some gas money to get back home :) Cheesey, but hey, by the time they hit Seattle, I’m sure they’ll need a “weary traveler” respite more than the red carpet treatment. Besides, Seattle’s more of a helping hand City than a Red Carpet kinda town, don’t ya think? Let L.A. give them the Red Carpet, we’ll give them some gas money.
Here’s what I’m thinking…thoughts appreciated.
A trip to Zillow
A trip to Redfin
A photo of Joe and Rudy at the Jimmy Hendrix statue in Capitol Hill
A walking tour of the Microsoft Campus (looking for a tour guide - RSVP)
Kim says we have to go to Pike Place Market and just pretend we’re tourists, and try to get them to throw a fish at Joe. I say we need to take the Duck Tour, but have to admit that’s because I’ve been looking for an excuse to take off from work and take the tour myself.
Experience Music Project? Actually go UP the Space Needle?
What do you think? What should Joe and Rudy not leave town without doing or seeing, if this were their one and only ever trip to Seattle together.
Blog Tour USA - 2 guys - 1 RV and 21 Cities
Heard they’re making a movie afterward called “Uneasy Rider”.
Please help me make their Seattle experience memorable. Come to the party!
Post any and all suggestions in the comments below with your $.02 of what should not be left off the list of places to go and see.
It’s only a ONE DAY visit, so we can’t go too far…more seeing and doing…less getting from place to place.

They will be at my home for dinner on 7/24 and they won’t go away hungry.
Good food, some wine, and some blog talk ~ what could be better?
What could be better?
Half of Seattle coming out to greet them
Ardell, I’m being asked what time everyone should show up for the BBQ?
BTW, I’m in!
I’m Italian. I don’t do barbecue. No way I’m having Rudy and Joe over without making my Grandmother’s Soup. It’s a pasta fest!
I figure it will be 6 till ? But have to pin down Sellsius’ arrival and the whole game plan for the day. Could be 7 till ?
It will an end of day party after the tour of Seattle.
I may need some blow up mattresses if anyone has them. I have at least one big one. We may have some people camping out here till the wee hours of the morning.
I could use some meatball rollers a couple of days before. Soup has hundreds of tiny meatballs.
I’m good for rollin’ little meatballs… just let me know a day and time. In the mean time, I will get my hands and wrists in shape with some killer playdough rolling!
Fun, fun!
I’ll bring some dessert!
Good! I do the food. Bring dessert and what you drink.
I highly suggest they take the Duck Tour. Tons of fun PLUS a tour of the city AND the thing drives OFF THE DOCK INTO LAKE UNION!! Pick it up down across the street from the Space Needle. Super fun for locals and tourists alike.
I feel selfish because I’ve been dying to do the Duck Tour on a podcast…and they’ve got the podcast equipment. I’ll have to see how long it is to see if we can fit it in.
Do you know how long it is from start to finish? Are they usually “on time”?
Microsoft’s close enough for Kim to do that in the evening while I’m getting the food ready. So I think Zillow, Redfin and Duck Tour during the day.
I’ve never been on the Duck Tour. My stepson went on it with his class…it sprung a leak!
any room for a Canadian?
I would like to come down from Vancouver if that is ok.
Ardell, let me know if that is ok.
Thanks
Steve
Sure Steve! We’d love to have you!
Steve has dibs on one of the air mattresses
Zillow has confirmed our tour for morning of 7/25. I’m keeping Joe and Rudy appraised via a link to this post.
Duck Tour is 90 minutes, so we should be able to get that in after Zillow, Redfin, Pike Place Market and then Duck Tour. That’s my plan so far.
Of course anyone is welcome to come. Just let me know.
And I had to schedule a vacation on the week of your the big party! I’ll be with you in spirit, Ardell.
I think the Redfin office would be a good place to go. They’re right in historic Pioneer Square.
I am currently scheduled to be out of town on 7/25 however, I’ll see if I can send an other trainer to that event! If I can swing it, can I bring my daughters for some soup, Ardell?
Sorry you won’t be able to make it Greg.
Jillyayne of course your daughters can come. They’ll be much more than just soup, of course.
Beau Betts said he’s going to try to make it and will know as the date gets closer. I’ve always wanted to meet him.
The Duck makes a stop right under my window. I can’t tell you how many times a day I hear that Smith Tower used to be the tallest building west of the Mississippi and how it still has elevator operators.
Ardell, are you going to post this in the Active Rain Blog Tour USA Group? (In your spare time!)
I made friends do the Duck for my birthday one year (I’m a Leo, what can I say?!). It was fun and cheesy at the same time, you gotta love the disco music, and it was nice to see Seattle from a new perspective. Try to get tickets before if you can - helps avoid standing in line.

Ardell - if they arrive early, bring them to Redfin’s little get-together on Tuesday night. If not, let us know what time you want to come by for the grand tour. We can’t promise Zillow’s sweeping water views, but we have a wall of water cooler jugs that’s just as interesting to see
Cynthia
Redfin
There’s also the Columbia Tower observation deck…close to both Redfin & Zillow. But if Zillow has great views, then maybe not. Or, the Underground Tour…they can learn about the city’s seedy past. Can I join the Redfin tour?
I keep threatening to take my teens to the Underground Tour…it’s years (more than I want admit to) since I’ve done that!
I’d like to join in on the Redfin and Zillow tour, too.
Count me in for the innovative RE (Redfin and Zillow) tour too!
Also, since it looks like you are going to be busy throughout the day hosting as “Seattle Tour Guide Goddess”, let me know if there is anything I can help with in the background ( that would make me your “acolyte” for the day!) so you have time to enjoy the fun too!
PS, my air mattress gave up the ghost long ago, but I do have twin sized FOAM mattresses for extra guests!
Hi everyone! Just got in. Just post who wants to do what and I’m sure we can include everyone who wants to come.
I spoke with Marlow this morning when we were doing the Inman call ahead for Connect, and she’s coming to the party and bringing wine.
Zillow wants us in the morning, so it will probably be Zillow then Redfin then anything else we want to do with Duck Tour last before back home to party.
Monday afternoon evening will be making the food time, so we just have to heat it on Wednesday.
Cynthia, I spoke with Rudy briefly on that call also. Just hi and goodbye. I’ll let you know if they get in early, but probably Redfin will be mid-day. I emailed Eric and Glenn and haven’t heard back.
Can you or Rob confirm that we can bring 6 people or so?
Thanks. I’ve been to Zillow a couple of times, but never made it oer to Redfin myself yet. Of course we all “visited” Redfin via 60 minutes
Rhonda,
I’ll post it in Active Rain when we get closer…over the weekend. I’m enjoying my brief break from Active Rain, with my Coach job of Project Blogger just ending Sunday night.
Thought I’d take at least three days off from Active Rain. Especially with all the drama re Pat Kitano and TransparentRE. Trying to stay out of that mess.
yikes…I wasn’t aware of any AR messes. I have not had a lot of extra time to spend over there.
LOL,
Just some drama. I don’t think you can have a competition without some drama, can you? 14 weeks is a very long time ot work on a project…I think three days or so…hey, would you post if for RCG? I’d appreciate it, Rhonda.
I already invited everyone I could think of who was nearby and knew Sellsius. Jon, Matt, Caleb, Ben and a host of other outside of Active Rain. Larry Cragun, Stan Mackey, Marlow Harris. I can’t remember them all, but if you think of anyone, send me an email and I’ll check to see if they were on my invites.
Did you send to everyone at RCG? I invited Robert Gray Smith and Matt Goyer. Did you hit the regulars? I’d love to meet Craig some day and Jon Ribary. I think I’ve met everyone else.
No problem, Ardell. I’ll get this posted at AR for ya.
I even invited Seattle Bublle Tim. I hope he comes.
Ardell, we had 40 show up in Denver today. What a blast! Looking back, I can’t believe I never made the effort to meet all these people in person before now.
Glenn Kelman just emailed and confirmed Redfin for 11:15.
So far it’s Zillow at 10:00
Redfin at 11:15
Pike Place Market
Duck Tour at:
Party at my house, 127 10th Ave Kirkland from 7 till ?
That’s if they arrive on time. More later.
[...] Ardell is hosting the BlogTourUSA event in Seattle, on July 25. It sounds almost as fun as the event we did here in Denver. See her post on Rain City Guide for details. [...]
A package arrived today…Kevin Tomlinson sent his “gas money” for Joe and Rudy
along with a good bag and Florida place mats for me and Kim. No naked Madonna place mats
Okay If you send me the plane ticket… I’ll bring gas money, a case of wine and some Lemonchello ??? fair trade?
Ardell, I just posted this over at Active Rain: http://activerain.com/blogsview/153532/Blog-Tour-USA-in
I hope it’s all the info you wanted. I asked readers to come back to this post to leave any RSVPs…trying to lighten your load a bit (one less blog to check out for comments).
Ardell,
I panicked about them getting to San Diego on-time; they were there with bells on.
I wouldn’t stress too much about showing them Seattle. The real good stuff is going to happen at your crib.
I can smell the gravy simmering already.
NB- Gravy is red sauce; ask Ardell why
Actually, I just explained that, and posted the recipe for the main course over at Derek’s Place last night. The “easy” version that anyone can make.
My Grandmother’s Soup recipe will be posted after we make it tomorrow, as it has NEVER been written down before…EVER! Deborah’s going to write it while I make it. One of those passed down from generation to generation by watching it made recipes.
Gravy is not red, Brian…well not as red as marinada.
Dez,
Sellsius will have hit 21 cities from NYC to San Francisco by 7/31. Maybe they are coming to a city near you? Where are you from?
Ardell, I just noticed I didn’t answer comment 30 completely…I did email all contributors to RCG who have links (I’ll double check)…hey…they should be reading this anyhow!
I’m planning on tagging along (if there’s enough room for me) to everything except the Duck Tour…I can’t swim! I am horrified of water…funny huh?
I can’t swim either…does that mean I have to wear a life jacket? I’m sure there will be someone on the tour who wants to toss me overboard, after having to spend 90 minutes hearing my big mouth going off.
I believe the life jacket is shapped like a duck (like what the little kids use)…only adult sized! (just kidding).
How terrific! I’d love to come up, but my client of 6 years is arriving today from Indiana just to finally meet us. They spent all day sightseeing in Seattle today and we’re meeting for dinner here in Tacoma tonight - working together at my home office all day tomorrow. I’m a Real Estate Virtual Assistant that has loved and followed both Sellsius and Active Rain forever - I see they’re heading down I-5, perhaps my Indiana client and I could foist yet another cup of terrific latte on them sometime Thursday? We’ve got the Museum of Glass, UW Tacoma - our renaissance, ya know!
Anyway, have lots of fun!!
There’s a phone number on the BlogTourUSA site. Give them a call. Maybe they can ride by and wave LOL.
I haven’t called them yet. Wondering if they are getting in tonight or in the morning. Anyone know?
They can’t comment here for some reason. They get whammed into the spam filter. Not sure why.
Ardell, will you post an update when you hear from the guys?
Just did. I must have been writing it when you wrote this comment!
